Karl Macrow BA PCIfA
Project Archaeologist
Karl graduated from The University of Southampton in 2008 and began his career working for the New Forest National Park Authority as a Maritime Archaeology Assistant. In 2010 he began working for MOLA in central London where he gained extensive experience of excavating and recording and complex deep stratigraphic archaeology in an urban environment. Whilst at MOLA he rose to the position of supervisor and worked on a number of prestigious projects including the former Royal Dockyard at Deptford, Shakespeare’s Curtain Theatre and the Temple of Mithras at Bloomberg Place. In 2015 he became part of the team building the London Urban Archaeological Database. He moved to North Wales in 2016 where he began working for Brython Archaeology as a supervisor on the excavations of an early medieval cemetery (winner of the ICE heritage award 2017) before becoming a Project Officer in 2017. During his time as a Project Officer, he was responsible for managing archaeological mitigations for a variety of large-scale infrastructure projects across North Wales including energy and transport infrastructure and mineral extraction projects. Karl joined CPAT in November 2023 and looks forward to developing new skills and areas of expertise.
