Bleaze's plan of 1629 shows a Guildhall in the centre of Broad Street at the entrance to what is now Hall Street. In 1795, the building was deemed unsafe and pulled down. A new town hall was built on the present site of the town hall (Gilbert-Davies, I,
2000, 69-72).
