PRN 30635 - Welshpool, Broad St 29

Probably early C19. 3 storeys. Ashlared stucco. Not symmetrical. 2 sashes with glazing bars. C19 shopfront, plain with moulded marble border. Arched through-passage on left.

Premises of the Welshpool Bank from 1812 onwards. Became bankrupt in 1815 (Brown, R L, 2000, 64).

In the block between the corner with Berriew Street and New Street.

Brick with slate roof and end wall stack set towards the rear. 3 storeys, 2-window range. Round-arched passage entry to the left, and early C20 shop front with recessed central door and windows divided by a central mullion. Plain fascia, with simply moulded pilasters to either side. 16-pane sash windows with flat-arched gauged brick heads to first floor, and wide 12-pane sashes below the moulded eaves band.

Retains its character as an early C19 building, with a C20 shop front of some character. Forms part of a group of commercial and domestic buildings at the centre of the town.
