Listed building.
Former public house, probably 18th century, with perhaps late 19th century frontage and fascia boarding. Datestone of 1721 in front wall above the archway into Boot Street.
Now estate agents with modern shopfront (1981).
The following is CPAT's transcription of the current Cadw Listing description - IT IS NOT DEFINATIVE
Relief Tablet (probably of lead) states "N/WS/1721" (William and Sarah Newill). 3 storeys. Painted brick. No 5 has one unbarred sash window on top storey and 5 light rectangular bay on 1st floor. No 6 has 2 sashes (with glazing bars on 1st floor) but
also bay on right of 1st storey. Both have modern shopfronts. Interior of No 5 has hewn timbers and probably original turned balusters to semi-spiral stair. No 6 retains same balusters only from top half-landing upwards.
