Former sawmill with overshot wheel (Houghton-Browne, A 1977).

Working by engine (1968). Condition poor (ENDEX listing).

Sawmill with aqueduct (PRN 87201) appearing on OS 2nd edition 6" map of 1903, and on another of 1908. The mill stream was dammed just above the mill where the stream passed through a narrow defile in the rock and water was taken by a trough to the overshot wheel. The power was then transmitted across the stream through a long shaft. Elwyn Morgan Jones and his father worked the mill until the 1950s. Later the wheel went to Bacheldre Mill (PRN 8852). The mill building itself is now called Sawmills Studio (Barton, P G, 2003, pp40-41).
