HEAD OF HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY SERVICES
Chris has been the Head of CPAT’s historic environment advisory service for over thirty years. In this time he has overseen the creation of the modern Historic Environment Record for all of Wales, and has helped develop the present system of heritage management and planning archaeology services. Chris’ role is comparable to that of an English ‘County Archaeologist’, although as ‘regional archaeologist’ for over 8,000 square kilometres of Wales his territory is somewhat larger than that of many of his colleagues in other parts of the UK. Chris is also a longstanding contributor to ALGAO policy and practice in Wales and the UK.
