TRIAL EXCAVATION REVEALED ROMAN FINDS INCLUDING ROAD OR HARD STANDING (BRASSIL, K., 1990, 54).

EXCAVATIONS BY CPAT PRIOR TO BUILDING WORK. BANK SURVIVED 0.8M ABOVE ORIGINAL GROUND SURFACE COMPOSED OF DUMPS OF SILTY CLAY AND LAYERS OF ANGULAR STONE. SEALED ROMAN OCCUPATION INCLUDING ROAD/YARD SURFACE AND C1ST-2ND FINDS (JONES, N.W. & BRASSIL, K. 1992, 70-71).
