Rhiw-goch lies in the community of Nantmel in the county of Powys. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SO05686785. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 18976 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

A filled-in shaft is located at SO05666785 while on the opposite side of the small valley at SO05856770 a run-in level and spoil heap were seen.
