Clwyd Metal Mines Survey


Henblas North

Henblas North lies in the community of Brynford in the county of Flintshire. It is located at Ordnance Survey national grid reference SJ19507380. The mine is recorded in the CPAT Historic Environment Record as number 104137 and this number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Lead/Silver (1862-1887)

Geology
Carboniferous Limestone.

Workings
Little evidence remains of the large-scale 19th century workings by the North Henblas Mining Company. Surface archaeology may have beeen lost in the construction of the new A55 trunk road. The Dolphin workings remain to the east of a small settlement of small stone cottages at SJ19607360. A single shaft remains at SJ19257368, near Laburnam Cottage, being to the north of Penyrhwylfa.
