Volunteering with CPAT

Excavations underway at the Hen Caerwys community dig © CPAT

The Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust has been working on a number of community heritage projects involving volunteers. The numbers may be small, and the opportunities a bit eratic, but if you're interested please contact us to see if we're running something near you, or if not whether you can put you name down for anything that might come up in the future. Have a look at some of the current and past community digs and other volunteering opportunities run by CPAT . . . .

The Historic Environment Record

If the outdoor life doesn't appeal, or you simply fancy getting to grips with something in our Historic Environment Record, then there are any number of tasks you could volunteer for with CPAT. The HER is a web based, GIS led, database which can be worked on from any internet enabled computer. It has details of monuments and events ranging in date from the Palaeolithic (the Old Stone Age) to the Cold War (somewhat more recent) and comprises databases, supporting paperwork, photographs, site archives and other collections. We can accomodate a small number of volunteers in our office in Welshpool or you might wish to consider working from the comfort of your own PC. Either way contact us at the link below to find out more.
