CPAT at the National Eisteddfod, Ebbw Vale

The Welsh Archaeological Trusts stand at the National Eisteddfod

In partnership with the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust CPAT were present for 2 days at the National Eisteddfod in Ebbw Vale at the beginning of August. This was a new venture to share the manning of a Welsh Archaeological Trusts stand during the course of the event in an area of Wales close to the border between the regions covered by the two Trusts.

Numerous bilingual display boards and a range of leaflets explaining the roles of the Trusts and presenting the results of their work were on show. There were sherds of pottery from excavations in south Wales for people to pick up and study and a range of activities aimed at young people such as making Bronze Age ‘thumb-pots’ from air-drying clay.

The Eisteddfod also gave us the chance to showcase Archwilio and several people researching particular topics or just interested in the archaeology near their homes accessed it via our web-enabled laptop.
